Summer Ruminations
This summer's uneventful. But it does leave wondering why I've wasted another summer. Of course, I do brainstorm a lot when I can't sleep. Stuff like "The parallels between Eragon (if I can find the book again) and Star Wars (ANH)"; more story ideas that I will never seriously put to paper; and why my grandfather is already ill, and I have so few memories of him, even though I'm sure that he had good memories of me when old age hasn't taken that away. He recognized me when I went back home to China to visit him, but even then, the sickness has made him rather... different from the photos I have of him.
I suppose I've gotten a bit more angry over these few days. I've thrown insults at all two people - no four in one day, and right in front of my mother, too. She was mighty proud, I have to say. And I swear, I felt pretty proud too.
But these days, you know what really angers me? The Chinese Communist Party. My grandparents were well-off then, before the Communist Party took over (obviously, my opinion of them isn't very high). Then, they god ripped-off by the regime, and now, my grandmother has trouble taking care of grandfather, and my whole family is trying to deal with financial and other miscellaneous issues, and it just doesn't seem fair at all. Meanwhile, the rich of the Chinese just get richer and more corrupt, and poor of the country simply get poorer and more deprivated. Perhaps this is one of the reasons the Chinese Communists took power: cause the ordinary people were sick of it, but now it is even worse. And all in the name of the government.
Maybe they'll be over-thrown one day. But I'm sure that when that day comes, it will make a bloody mess of China.
